This quote states that win or lose he will still be true , what I means is that he cheat is way to success as long as he knows he did the right thing and stayed true to himself . Like for example when his stored closed down and he had to pay the loan they gave him he stayed true to himself and got 4 jobs to pay it all of . Another example is when he borrowed a book from his neighbor and he ruined it . He work 3 days just to make up for it . That's why he quotes " I am not bound to win , but I am bound to be true " . Because at the end of the day he knows he stayed true to himself and made up for every mistake he has done . Stay true to yourself at the end of the day , you are GOIN to be the one who feels the guilt for not being true .
